چکیده

Oligohydramnios developing early in pregnancy is less common, and the fetal outcomes are usually poor. This is because prolonged decrease in amniotic fluid may cause compression sequences, such as pulmonary hypoplasia, muscle hypotrophy or joint constriction. Early-onset oligohydramnios may be caused by preterm premature rupture of membranes (pPROM) or decreased secretion of amniotic fluid. Early rupture of membranes always leads to poor prognosis despite antepartum intervention such as amnioinfusion. Oligohydramnios without ruptured membranes implies fetal urinary tract malformations or chromosome anomaly. However, even normal infants may suffer from the consequences of oligohydramnios, such as amniotic band syndrome, congenital postural deformities, pulmonary hypoplasia and cord compression. Decades THE EXPERIENCE OF AMNIOINFUSION FOR OLIGOHYDRAMNIOS DURING THE EARLY SECOND TRIMESTER

Maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein levels and fetal outcome in early second-trimester oligohydramnios.

Early second-trimester oligohydramnios was associated with normal maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (MSAFP) levels in nine out of 26 cases (35 per cent). Congenital malformations of the fetal urinary tract resulting in fetal anuria were present in nine cases; in seven of them, normal MSAFP levels were measured. In contrast, normal MSAFP levels were established in only 2 out of the 17 cases witho...

Heparin successfully improved an early onset intrauterine growth restriction accompanied by severe oligohydramnios

Oligohydramnios is an ominous pregnant complication with high perinatal morbidity and mortality of 80%-90%, if it was observed in second trimester. However, there is no promising modality to cure it at that period. In this case, heparin therapy was successful in an early onset extreme oligohydramnios.

Maternal serum markers in second-trimester oligohydramnios.

The levels of the maternal serum markers alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), and unconjugated oestriol (uE3) in 35 pregnant women with early second-trimester oligohydramnios differed from those in a reference population of 1699 singleton pregnancies. Maternal serum AFP levels above the 95th centile of the population distribution were observed in 80 per cent (16/20) of ...

Sirenomelia. Pathological features, antenatal ultrasonographic clues, and a review of current embryogenic theories.

We aimed to discuss the prenatal diagnosis and pathological features of sirenomelia, and to review current embryogenic theories. We observed two sirenomelic fetuses that were at the 19th and 16th gestational week respectively. In the former, transvaginal ultrasound revealed severe oligohydramnios and internal abortion, whereas bilateral renal agenesis, absence of a normally tapered lumbosacral ...

The use of amniotic fluid discordance in the early second trimester to predict severe twin-twin transfusion syndrome.

INTRODUCTION The appropriate effectiveness of inter-twin amniotic fluid discordance (AFD) in the early second trimester for the prediction of severe twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) was evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS The largest AFD between 16 and 18 weeks' gestation was analyzed in correlation with TTTS development defined by polyhydramnios with a maximum vertical pocket (MVP) ≥8 cm c...
